Mature Through Your Misunderstood Pieces
The sign of Scorpio is known to be misunderstood, much like the elusive depths that all water signs carry within them. The words mysterious, controlling, intense, dark, and manipulative often rise to the surface of our awareness when we think about the sign of Scorpio. But as Scorpio season comes around this year, its energy seems to be revealing some of its other layers, asking to be seen for its illumination rather than its shadow.
It was only with a faint discernment when the Scorpio energy snuck into my consciousness ever so cautiously. It arrived quiet, shy, and somewhat apprehensive. When I let its energy truly come into focus, it reminded me of that quiet kid you went to school with who always had more things said about them than they ever had to say to others. Over the years, that gossip grows into rumors about how different that kid is, how 'off' they are, and the strange things that might have made them that way.
Have you ever noticed, though, that when you get to know those people and peel those surface level layers back, they start to ooze with introspection, imagination, creativity, and authenticity?
Scorpio season is similar: mysterious, misunderstood, and a bit awkward in the seen world, but full of depth, wisdom, ideas, and authority of self when you invest the time into it’s energy. Scorpio holds the keys to the portal of the unknown, the unseen, and everything occult. To hold these keys comes great wisdom and responsibility, but our fear of what is different or darker often holds us back from unlocking our own portal.
The inner labyrinth that lives within this energy isn’t just a place, it’s a journey. Natives of this sign understand the journey as one of self-mastery and maturity. Those unfamiliar with Scorpio's energy, however, might find it difficult to connect with, as though they aren't in on the secret to unlocking its greatest wisdom.
The secrecy that this energy carries doesn't focus on the ability to keep secrets hidden, but rather the ability to access the secrets of life, the mysteries of the unseen world.
For a sign so often associated with control, aligning with Scorpio energy actually requires fluidity, patience, temperance, and receptivity to things outside of our familiarity. It is a sign that pushes for quiet expansion, encouraging us to develop greater mastery of our inner world rather than trying to control the world around us. More importantly, it compels us to mature with this journey of life. By accepting the regenerative process that becomes life through birth, death, and rebirth, we slowly become the person we are guided to. We slowly mature into our highest self.
Maturity isn't simply about the years we've lived or the experiences we've collected. It's also about how willing we are to understand the parts of ourselves we've kept hidden, rejected, or misunderstood. The little critter reveals that letting go of our outer identity begins with discovering the truth of who we are beneath it. Allowing our truest self to blossom despite the rejection and judgement our ego feels is the journey of maturing.
Maturing enough to be confident in the truth that lives within, maturing enough to hold this sacredness with fierce protection and understanding. Maturing enough to awaken to what life really means to you. Maturing enough to trust our instincts without allowing ego to minimize our momentum.
To do this, we must strengthen our walls enough to hold boundaries against unaligned energies, while softening our insides enough to understand what we experience. Learning to alchemize these energies instead of suppressing them becomes part of our maturation. It's a turning point in the zodiac wheel where you release a little more phoniness, people-pleasing, and feelings of imposter syndrome to evolve a couple of degrees further into yourself.
Scorpio is a profoundly passionate and loving sign. Its energy supports bringing the imaginative and meaningful visions of the unseen into the physical world. Beneath the intensity so often associated with this sign lives a capacity to love deeply, create meaningfully, and give life to the things we once only imagined.
The more we can accept death into our lives, the more we can welcome rebirth. We, too, are beings of the same regenerative process we see happening to the trees this time of year. Scorpio is asking us to focus on the rebirth, newness, and regenerative aspects of itself this season. Perhaps we've misunderstood Scorpio's relationship with death because we've been so focused on the ending that we've overlooked the life waiting to emerge from it.
It's lingering in the shadows of your mind, asking you to accept the death it is illuminating so that you can experience the rebirth a little more deeply and authentically. It doesn't want you to keep bringing along the old, dusty beliefs and thoughts that you've outgrown but haven't yet detached from. It’s asking you to evolve into a more mature and aligned version of you.
It's bringing the pieces of your shadow that need assessing into your awareness. It's not asking for a heavy season of shadow work; it's helping carry the load so that you can simply awaken into more truth.

TAROT CARD: DEATH ☠️
The Death card, like Scorpio season, is notorious for being misunderstood. These linked archetypes both receive quick judgment for the darkness and depth they symbolize, even though they also symbolize the light of regeneration and transformation.
In the Rider-Waite-Smith tarot deck, the Death card displays an armored skeleton riding a white horse, carrying a black flag with a white, five-petaled rose. The rose symbolizes renewal, while the symbolism of eared corn represents the harvest that comes from the cycles of life, death, and rebirth. Together, they honor the inherent regenerative process of nature, reminding us that death is not simply an ending, but part of the cycle that allows life to begin again.
Without the regenerative quality of life, we would simply move through life, death, life, death, repeating the same mundane song without ever evolving into something new.
What a divine process it is that we get to be a part of, where every time we start again, we evolve a degree further. We get to start again with our bucket of wisdom filled up a little higher, our perspectives open a bit wider, and our intuition feeling and knowing to a deeper capacity. How lucky are we that we get to bring the important lessons, the harsh memories, and even the feelings of regret with us, allowing us to navigate our lives with more authority and maturity.
That lightness and excitement for how we get to start every chapter is the essence of the Death card and why it's representing Scorpio season. It's a reminder that the regenerative process isn't simply about what we leave behind, but also about the wisdom we carry forward.
Use this spread to see where the regenerative process is inviting transformation into your life.
